Leslie Churchill Ward

Choir Director

Leslie graduated with an honours degree in Acting from the Ohio University School of Theatre and worked as an award-winning actor in the States. Now living in the UK, she continues to share her love of the performing arts as a theatre arts teacher, musical director, and as Artistic Coordinator for the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. She loves working with children and strongly believes in the ethos of Theatretrain. Leslie directs the Theatretrain Regional Choir and has taught at the Mold centre since it opened. She has also prepared Theatretrain's first ever 'Joseph Choirs' for the touring Kenwright production of Joseph. Leslie is the Artistic Director and founder of Musical Meatballs in Mind, a performance group for adults whose lives have been affected by mental health issues. In 2015 The Meatballs had the honour to perform for (and chat with!) The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. In 2010 Leslie founded Acquire, a mixed-voice community choir. As well as many local performances, Acquire has performed with Brit Award winning trio BLAKE and developed a strong relationship with Mike Peters / The Alarm. Acquire has performed and recorded with Mike on several occasions, and in 2015 they joined Mike, The Alarm, and the Wales Pops Orchestra in a concert filmed live at the Wales Millennium Centre. The dvd (Poppies Falling from The Sky) will soon be available worldwide.
